The 2017 NANETS symposium will include a research didactic session and a segment of NANETS guidelines controversies on October 21.
The research didactic discussion will feature Aldo Scarpa, MD, PhD, University and Hospital Trust of Verona, focusing on genomic analysis of pNETs; James Bibb, PhD of the University of Alabama Birmingham Medical Center on the role of Cdk5 in neuroendocrine cancer; and Agne Petrosiute, MD, of University Hospitals on Cdk5 disruption and anti-tumor immunity. Moderating the session will be Eric Nakakura, MD, PhD, of the University of California, San Francisco, and James Yao, MD, of MD Anderson Cancer Center.
In the Guidelines Controversies segment, the discussion of biomarkers will feature Guido Rindi, MD, PhD, of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, taking the “pro” perspective and Thorvardur Halfdanarson, MD, of the Mayo Clinic presenting the “con” point of view; functional Imaging - Jaime Motilla-Soler, MD, of the Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute (pro) and Sandy McEwan, MD, University of Alberta (con); screening for carcinoid heart disease - Anthony Heaney, MD, PhD, University of California, Los Angeles (pro) and W.W. de Herder, MD, PhD, Erasmus MC (con). The moderator will be Jonathan Strosberg, MD, of the Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute. The segments will include Q&A.
